On Friday, 22nd July 2011 at 11.00 at the Rogner Hotel, Apollonia Hall, will be held the launch of the Project “Creation of the Center for University Services and of the Albanian Academic Network”, on the occasion of the signing of the contract between the Ministry of Education and Sciences and the University Consortia CINECA-CASPUR. The initiative, financed by the Italian Cooperation, aims at enhancing the Albanian Academic System in its function of promoting high level teaching activities and scientific research activities at international level.The general objectives of the Project are: adaptation of the Academic Teaching System and of the Scientific Research in Albania to the levels of the EU Countries; alignment with the guidelines of the Bologna Process concerning the European Higher Education System; the growing of the participation of Albanian Professors and Researchers to research activities lead by the International Scientific Arena; this will be possible through the establishment of a computer network system which will connect the Albanian Academic world to the Italian Research & Education Network (NREN).
This project, funded by the Italian Cooperation in an amount of 4 mln Euros, represents the first example of funding directly managed by Albanian government, and it will be executed with the technical support of the two university consortia CINECA-CASPUR.
The nodal point of the initiative is the creation of a Service Centre for promoting the quality of higher education and administrative management through the creation of an Academic Network connecting Albanian Athenaeums, Research Institutes and the Science Academy to contribute to the growth of participation of students, Researchers and Professors to the teaching and research activities at international level.
The Ceremony will be attended by the Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, Ministry of Education and Sciences, Myqerem Tafaj, the Vice Minister of Education and Sciences, Nora Malaj, the Head of the Service Center, Arian Xhelaj, the Italian Ambassador in Tirana, Saba D’Elia, the Head of the Italian Development Cooperation in Albania, Aldo Sicignano and Eminent Representatives of Academic high relevant institutions of Italy.
